Here are the five recipients of the Ganong Volunteer Award, as selected by our judges:
BC/Yukon Chapter:
Award Recipient- Barb Wilson
Run Site- Kelowna

“Barb truly does the Kelowna Committee and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation proud with her tireless dedication and involvement year in and year out to the cause. She effortlessly answers queries about registration to the participants, and handles complaints to their satisfaction every time!”

Prairies/NWT Chapter:
Award Recipient- Lisa Todd
Run Site- Calgary
“Lisa has been our lead person with CIBC in Winnipeg for the last two years. She spends relentless hours going to meetings and making sure everyone knows what is going on. She is very passionate about the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure and gives a tremendous amount of her time and as a CIBC employee. I am very proud of her.”

Atlantic Chapter:
Award Recipient- Perry Martin
Run Site- St John’s, NF
“Perry Martin is a natural leader. He is well liked, easy going and has a strong work ethic. This combination has made Perry a “dream volunteer”. Once Perry knows what the tasks are to be accomplished, you do not have to worry about following up with him and you can rest assured that every detail will be attended and Perry will not overlook anything. Confidence and trust are two things you would never hesitate to place in Perry.”

Ontario Chapter:
Award Recipient- Kathy McKenna
Run Site- Toronto
“Kathy demonstrates service excellence in all her work with consistency, follow-through and incredible organization. She leads by example and takes pride in her work which motivates others around her. She respects volunteers' time and contributions and is always thinking of new ways to improve the Run experience for volunteers, participants, National and local sponsors and other stakeholders. Kathy deals with all these groups of people with professionalism, courtesy, respect, humour and patience. At every step, she is always sure to provide praise for a job well done and expresses gratitude to sponsors and volunteers whenever the opportunity arises.”

Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation
Award Recipient- Hélène Dion
Run Site- Quebec City
“Ms Dion is a very dynamic person. She knows how to direct the volunteers and to find the people needed for the different committees. She works very hard, is always available and has a way of making everybody around her feel at ease. Ms. Dion is appreciated by the other volunteers and the time she contributes. I recommend her strongly and hope she will be recognized for her efforts.”
